Ranchers Conference Here Thursday and Friday

Beaverhead county will hold an economic conference in Dillon over two days as part of a Montana statewide series. Ranchers will discuss agricultural adjustment to stabilize the industry and plan county programs with actionable recommendations for spring 1987. Local meeting times include 10 a.m. tomorrow and 1 p.m. Friday.

Well Known Beaverhead Ranchers Pass Away Within Hours

Two prominent Beaverhead valley ranchers died yesterday within hours of each other. Walter Carlson aged 58 died at his ranch home after a lingering illness. He was a native of Copenhagen. Carleton Innes also died yesterday, leaving the community grieved by the loss of valued local citizens.

Dillon Boxing Card Delivers Fast Action and Draws

A large crowd at Dart's Hall watched Dillon boxers in a fast action card. Verne Hoffline of Anaconda defeated Jack Mclenegon of Butte in the headline bout. Draws occurred for Swetish and Bouragga, Reese and Bittrick, Johnstone and Osborne, and Hansen and Webster. Valentine knocked out Ozinski in the first round.

Madison Man Kasper Hauser Dies At 69 In Dillon

Kasper Hauser 69 prominent retired Madison county rancher died at his Dillon home Friday after a lingering illness. Born in Germany in 1867 he came to the United States about 40 years ago and ranched in Madison county from 1913 to 1930 before retiring to Dillon. Surviving are his widow Mary Hauser a daughter Margaret Boyle of Butte a son John of Stockton California and several grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at St Rose Catholic Church with Rev F X Lechner officiating and interment in Mountain View Cemetery.

Show Boat Tour Brings 1936 Motion Pictures to Montana Schools

The forest service will take the Show Boat through Beaverhead and surrounding districts in March and April 1936. Pioneer Florence Brown Dies at Ralston at 88

Florence Brown a Montana pioneer and sister of Kate and Frankie Lewis died at her Ralston home aged 88. A native of Glasgow Missouri she came to Montana in 1889 with her husband William Brown and parents. She was educated at Prichard Institute and Minor Seminary St Louis. Interment in Mountain View cemetery with Rev Wd Loar officiating. Deputy game warden Charles Brice investigated last week.

State university Grizzlies routed the Normal college Bulldogs 64 to 41 Monday night in a clean sweep of the series. The result ties a prior double win by the Bulldogs in last year’s series.

Methodist Church Banquet Honors Bishop Lowe in Washington

Grace Methodist church parlors hosted over 120 attendees for a banquet and reception honoring Bishop Titus Lowe, head of the Methodist Church for Washington Oregon Idaho and Montana, and Dr. E D Kohlstedt of Philadelphia. Reuben Dutton district superintendent opened with an invocation and introduced the bishop. J A Meeke pastor presided as music by Mrs B G Farrell Jack Gaines and Mrs Beryl Greene accompanied the program.

Gilbert assists box office for Chicago opera show

John H. Gilbert of 615 South Pacific street Dillon a University of Chicago student served as box office assistant for Gluck's Iphigenia in Tauris presented by the University of Chicago Opera Association at Mandel Hall on the Midway. The heroic tragedy marked the association's third annual production and its first major U.S. staging. Cecil Michener Smith conducted the production sung by professional artists.
