Illness of Brief Time Is Fatal

Prominent Dillon man J A Baxter dies at Barrett Hospital Sunday morning after brief illness. Baxter was a well known figure in the community and local affairs. He leaves a widow and several children. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family later today.

J Anson Baxter longtime Dillon resident and Montana Auto Supply manager died at Barrett hospital at 7 20 Sunday morning after about a week of illness. He was born September 26 1894 in Sac City Iowa and moved to Dillon with his parents 36 years ago. He attended Beaverhead county high school and Montana State College Bozeman and worked in electrical contracting before serving as deputy clerk.

Mrs. Blanche Gordon Dies After Illness in Dillon

Mrs Blanche Gordon wife of Frank Gordon a Melrose merchant died Sunday afternoon at Barrett hospital after a brief pneumonia illness. The funeral was held this afternoon from the Methodist Episcopal church with Rev J A Meeke officiating. Born July 24 1886 in Benzonia Michigan she had lived in Dillon and Melrose for 24 years and was known to many friends in both communities. She is survived by her husband two children Beverly OBrien Stacy Gordon four grandchildren her mother and a sister in Michigan and another sister in Pennsylvania.

Normal College Debates Miss Mines In Affirmative Victory

In a parliamentary style debate at the Normal College auditorium Montana State Normal defeated the State School of Mines on the resolution that Congress should override Supreme Court rulings by a two thirds vote. The audience gave 34 to 82 in favor of the Normal College team on the merits, with a personal conviction vote also favoring them.
