Hermit Al Brubaker of Beaverhead County A Legend
A sixty to seventy year old Beaverhead hermit Al Brubaker lives alone in a one room cabin near the Wise and Big Hole rivers. He and partner Isaac Dodgson run the Keystone mine and mill supplying simple needs from ore. Brubaker recalls 1864 overland trek with Joseph H. Millard and Willard Barrows, describing hardships from Iowa to Virginia City with Indians, canyons, and ferries.
