Short Term of Court Concludes February Term

The February district court term ended with Judge Callaway leaving for Butte. Trials were set for April 28 to 30 including Stone v Stone and Beaverhead Realty Co. v State Bank Dillon. Various demurrers were sustained or overruled, amended complaints allowed, and several cases given 30 to 60 days to answer. A decree of divorce was granted to A. J. Downing for desertion. Fifty jurors were ordered for a special term starting April 27.

Murder near Dillon: William Ridgley slain on railroad tracks

The unknown man found dead beside the Short Line tracks north of Dillon on January 10 is identified as William Ridgley. Authorities suspect a local man of first degree murder, alleging a blunt strike and robbery then placing the body to be struck by a train. Evidence links the suspect to Ridgley and to recent sightings together near the river bridge.

Washington Birthday Party at Mt Vernon Style

Miss Mildred Negley and companions hosted a Washington birthday gathering with Dean Hopper. The parlor featured red white and blue decor including flags portieres and George and Martha Washington pictures. A Minuet closed the evening with white attire and candlelight.

Veteran Hood of Bloomington Dies in Dixon

David T. Hood a Civil War veteran and 13 year Dillon resident died suddenly last Thursday afternoon after collapsing near the corner of Pacific and Center Streets. He served in Company K 64th Illinois and was a pillar of the community. He leaves twelve children and a grieving widow. Funeral services were held at his home with Rev. Dr. Martin preaching. interment followed at Mountain View cemetery.

Entertaining Electrical Lecture by Prof Clarke at Normal Hall
