Three Dillon Gun club stars competed in the Washington state shoot in Spokane. Roy Forrester Sr. and Roy Forrester Jr. tied for first in the handicap with 95 of 100. Dr E G Free placed second in doubles with 48 of 50. Frank Treech won doubles with 49 of 50. Nearly a hundred shooters took part, underscoring the Dillon stars strong showing.

Dan Grant a Bea verhead county resident for nearly 40 years died Friday afternoon at his Burfield apartments home after a three week illness. Born in Madison Wisconsin in 1873 he moved to Montana in 1898 and lived in Dillon and Lima most of the time. Surviving: wife Sophie two brothers Pete Grant Pony and Edward Grant Whitney Neb two sisters Mrs M A Burlingame Pocatello and Mrs Julia Peat Lima and several nieces and nephews. Born October 19 1883 in Osela Nebraska he moved to Dillon in 1920 and worked in local meat markets. Rancher Sam Caldwell of the East bench near Dillon died Monday at the Henry Wolfe ranch on Stone Creek after a long illness. Born in Missouri 68 years ago, he came to Beaverhead County in 1917. County Agent Urges Saving Wool Fleeces for Exhibit
Beaverhead Montana wool growers urged to save top fleeces for next winter's state wool show. Bernard Williams mailed letters to leaders, noting a new classification for range-sheep wool entered by owners of 2,500 head or more. Five fleeces needed. Beaverhead has won prizes though exhibits were smaller. Williams believes the rule will boost prizes for the county.

Beaverhead Ranchers Begin First Hay Cutting Soon
Beaverhead county ranchers finished sheep shearing and plan the first alfalfa harvest in the Beaverhead valley, with other valleys to follow. The first cut is expected near average, but second cut may fall short due to water shortages without rains. The Big Hole wild hay crop should match usual yields as shortages are less severe there. County figures show Beaverhead accounts for 27 percent of Montana's wild hay, mostly in the Big Hole. Much of the 1937 wool clip was sold last winter with some large lots still awaiting buyers. Prices have stayed above 30 cents.

Women's Club Secures Cemetery Water Supply Upgrade
Dillon Business and Professional Women's club gained an extra water supply for Mountain View cemetery after last year's project. A reservoir was built and the cemetery ditch repaired. The P and O Townsite Company donated a share in Canyon ditch, totaling three shares. The supply increases by 24 inches for irrigation and runoff storage is secured by the new reservoir above the cemetery.

Old Chinese temple in Dillon saves from fire
One of Dillon's oldest buildings the northern city’s Chinese temple narrowly escaped total destruction last Wednesday night after a fire started from matches near a hot stove. The two story frame structure dates to Dillon's early days and has served as worship hall living quarters and transient housing. It is owned by Mrs. Cheng Chin who has returned to China.
