Horse theft charged in Dell arrest
Ed Hanley was arrested west of Dell by Sheriff Paul H. Temple and held on a horse theft charge. He allegedly stole a horse from the Bill Brazier ranch near Melrose and a saddle from the Lovell ranch. A second saddle found with Hanley was identified by Brazier, linking him to the theft. He led to a cache where the saddles were found.

Mrs. Alice Chambers Olmsted Dies In Missoula
Mrs. Alice Chambers Olmsted, longtime Dillon kindergarten teacher and widow of former mayor Thomas D. Olmsted, died Sunday in Missoula after a brief operation. Born June 22, 1881 in Glidden Iowa, she moved to Dillon in 1899 and graduated from Montana State Normal College in 1901. She taught nine years at the local training school and was active in the Montana Education Association. Her rhythm band kindergarten innovation was well known.

Old Timers Picnic Set for Wisdom Sunday June 11
Campership awards of 2 dollars each were given to 48 Dillon Girl Scouts for over 75 percent attendance and service, with named recipients in Troops 2 3 and 4. The Old Timer’s picnic, hosted by the Big Hole Road association, will be held Sunday July 11 in Wisdom at the Masonic hall to accommodate older residents from Divide to Dillon and beyond.

New Law Office Opened in Dillon by J L Mayland
J L Mayland announced the opening of a new law office in Dillon in the Metlen block on South Idaho street. A 1933 graduate of the University of Montana law school, he has served as procurement officer for the state park division in Helena for three years and practiced law in Great Falls for a year. He is well known in Dillon from prior visits.

Sherman Vance a Melrose and Lima businessman died Wednesday in Idaho Falls where he had recently lived. His funeral occurred in Melrose with the Masonic lodge in charge and interment followed in the Melrose cemetery.
