Yellowstone Opens Gates for Summer Visitors 1928
Yellowstone Park began summer operations with the north and west gates open at six o'clock on June 1. The first entrants were P. L. Durant of Virginia Minnesota and Joe Farnsworth of Salt Lake City driving a Chevrolet and an Oldsmobile. Roads on the Grand Loop have dried after snow but east and south entrances remain closed. Officials expect full opening by June 15 and predict a record travel year with extensive road oiling to reduce dust. Official ceremonies mark the park's 56th anniversary on June 20 at West Yellowstone with governors attending.

Los Angeles reports that improper branding damages hides and costs the cattle industry millions yearly.
