Driver fined and jailed for license violation

Russell Schroeder received 15 days in county jail on a bad check charge not forgery, for allegedly cashing at Crystal Bar. Undersheriff John Troupe arrested Paul Peck of Livingston on a bad check charge said to be cashed at Busy Bee. Final rites for Dillon youth Alexander Tait
Final rites for Alexander Tait, a Dillon youth, were held at Brundage Funeral Home with Rev. Paris E. Wells officiating. Burial followed at Mountain View cemetery. He died after a throat infection and had been ill since Wednesday. He was born in Dillon in 1920 and starred as an honor student at Beaverhead County High School class of 1938. Survived by parents Alexander Tait Sr. and Mrs. Tait, two brothers William and Alan, sister Mary, grandmother Mrs. Mary Paddock, grandfather William all of Scotland, and many relatives.

Fire Dive Thrills Fans At Carnival Sponsored by the Dillon Volunteer Fire Department American United Shows opened its colorfully staged carnival in Rise Addition Monday evening drawing a large crowd. Highlight is a 110 foot fire dive by Captain Jimmy Jamison who drops into a flaming water tank amid gasps from the audience. Jamison has been featured in Life and Look magazines for the hazardous act. Also new this year is Professor Ruhls Trained Flea Circus with midget performers. Funeral services were held for James William Nye a 13 year old Centennial valley youth who died July 23 after being trapped in a sage brush fire near Lima. In the 24th annual state golf championship at Butte Country Club, Roscoe Cornell and his wife became the only Dillon pair to reach the finals and the only man and wife to survive qualifying. Crichton of Deer Lodge beat Cornell two and one in the sixth flight, while Mrs Cornell fell five and three to Helen Walterskirchen of Missoula in the third flight.
