M. E. Hopkins takes over the M. H. King Co. from Bill Williams, who moves to Blackfoot Idaho. Hopkins comes from Burley Idaho, with eight years at King stores, and brings his family to Dillon.

The six Montana grazing districts have been renamed to reflect locations. District No. 1 is the Malta district with headquarters at Malta, covering Blaine and Phillips counties and parts of Valley and Chateau counties. District No. 2 is Musselshell with offices in Billings. District No. 3 Mizpah spans Fallon Carter and Powder River counties and parts of Custer and Prairie. District No. 4 Bridger includes part of Carbon with headquarters in Billings. District No. 5 Butte covers Deer Lodge Jefferson Madison Broadwater Silver Bow and Beaverhead with office at Whitehall. National Forest Receipts Nearly Double in 1939 40
MISSOULA Receipts from Northern Rock Mountain Region national forests for the year ending June 30, 1940 rose nearly twofold from the prior year as timber sales surged. The region posted 714 069 in net returns, with 524 843 from timber sales, while grazing fees reached 134 618 and special use permits 322 501. Nationwide, total receipts were 5 859 108, up from 4 870 516, with 25 percent allocated to roads and schools in the counties.
