Charles Robinette surrendered after shooting John Timingen known as Cayuse in a dispute over grazing on public land near the Tom Metzel ranch. A coroner’s jury ruled Timingen’s death a gunshot wound from Robinette, who is jailed in Liberty on a $5,000 bond awaiting a preliminary hearing.

Noted Montana stockman Jon Lovell dies after gallstone operation
Jon Lovell a prominent stockman and pioneer sheepman in southern Montana died after gallstone surgery at St James hospital Butte. Born May 28 1872 in England he arrived in Montana as a youth with his brother later building a large cattle and sheep operation. He is survived by his wife two sons and his brother with funeral services set at 6 pm at Mrs Ellen Lovell residence under Dillon Masons.
