The Jefferson Valley Rural Electrification Cooperative plans a 281 mile extension from Melrose to Dillon with a substation in Dillon and a branch toward Twin Bridges. Langford Electric of Minneapolis won a 172000 dollar contract, with 100 workers to start once rights of way and surveys are complete.

Beaverhead county sold most of its large wool clip and shipped it to eastern markets. A. W. Wilson of Jackson, a long time Big Hole basin merchant, died Friday after a lengthy illness at the Holloran residence in Dillon. He was born in 1868 in Indiana and lived in Montana since early life, serving as Jackson postmaster and later running his own store.

Silas Robert Nunn, 42, died Monday morning at the Chris Rieber ranch on Rock Creek where he had been employed briefly. His body was taken to Dillon and Sheriff Paul H. Temple notified relatives in Casper Wyoming and North Platte Nebraska.

Cemetery Improvement To Start Next Month
The WPA project to improve Mountain View cemetery will begin around August 7, per city engineer Forrest Bayerd. Plans require government approval, with $20,811 slated for pipes, a concrete reservoir, a pump, fences, an ornamental arch, and full landscaping. The Dillon Business and Professional Women’s Club, sponsor of the project, has completed much work and still must raise $774.39 to reach its goal.

Senator Duncan Dies, Montana Pioneer and Attorney
Senator Montgomery M. Duncan, 69, Madison county attorney and longtime public servant, died in Virginia City after a brief illness from a heart ailment. Born in Fulton, Missouri, Nov. 11, 1869, he moved to Montana in 1883 and became a prominent figure in Madison County politics and state affairs.

To Gravel Road to The Morrison Cave
The state highway department will gravelet three miles of road from the Three Forks Whitehall highway to Morrison cave by September 30. The project will be contracted with four maintenance jobs and cost about $30,000. Acting on a tip from Sheriff Paul Temple of Dillon, deputies arrested Donald Robertson, 21, in Butte on a Missouri kidnapping and robbery probe. A companion, Harold Gross, identified as Mullan Idaho, was also taken into custody after a car with Missouri plates was spotted. FBI questioned Robertson as Mabrey’s ownership papers were found in the vehicle. H. Tyler, tied to a forged check, was also jailed for forgery in Dillon.

The secretary of agriculture approved the Big Hole basin road from U S 91 near Divide through Ralston and Wisdom to U S 93 near Gibbons Pass as an addition to the federal aid system. Wallace Beery, Hollywood star, rode the Madison River with Dillon paddlers Leslie Smith and Garry Johnson for two consecutive days. With one week to go the Dillon Girl Scout council sponsored camp reports strong attendance growth over three weeks. Older girls are supervised by Mrs William McMaster and Mrs Edna Kastelitz while younger girls are under Mrs Smith Paddock Miss Helen Doyle and Mrs Kastelitz. Each day they prepare a hot dish to supplement lunches and enjoy daily swimming in the college plunge.

Dramatization of Fairy Story at Normal College
