Dillon Firemen Plan Fast Paced Rodeo At Elks Convention
Dillon firemen aim for a rapid show during the Elks state convention, August 10 to 12, with 25 to 30 entrants in the busting contests. The program features bareback riding bulldogging calf roping steer riding novelty races and a wild mule race each afternoon. Ted Renfro Montana renowned trapshooter will perform exhibitions with shotgun and rifle, and Buck Reagan’s bucking horses from Whitehall are also featured.

Holiday Outing Ends in Tragedy Drowning Near Madison County
Ogden youths George Hartog 21 and Beatrice Madison 19 were fishing from a boat on a lake when it capsized. Hartog drowned before nearby road crew could aid. Madison was rescued. Hartog's body was later recovered and sent to Ogden.

Last of Wool Sales Tops Montana Market
Beaverhead county wool reached top prices as Jimmy Good of Draper and Company bought 60 000 pounds of small lots at 26 1/2 cents. About 20 000 pounds of small clips sold to Dewey Gould at 23 cents. A S Johnson of Dillon represented a Boston firm. The sales marked the cleanup at the First National warehouse with overall averages near two bits.

University Units Consider Federal Funds for Repairs

Enlargement of Lima Dam Proposed by Rotary Talk
Frank A. Hazelbaker told the Dillon Rotary Club about enlarging the Lima dam to boost its reservoir capacity from 37 000 to 60 000 acre feet to over 90 000 acre feet. He noted the dam’s 25 year history, the risk of collapse last spring, and the aim to secure irrigation water for Beaverhead valley.

One Hundred New Lights For Streets
Dillon plans a lighting district adding 100 street lights, one at each intersection on residential streets. Mayor Emerick and Commissioner Bayerd cite 40 replacements and 60 new installations with larger, more effective lights. Cost to property owners about 2.00 per lot yearly for three years then 1.50, while city costs rise to about 2600 including installation with 25 percent funded from the general fund. Residents expect improved illumination across Dillon.

Dillon's state contract bridge champions Fred Rife and R W Boone received silver trophies for their World Bridge Olympic State Championship 1933 victory. They posted high pars on East and West in the Olympic event, achieving several perfect hands. A Sons of Legionnaires squadron for Dillon was urged by W L Chapman at a Beaverhead American Legion and Legion Auxiliary meeting at the Metlen hotel. Wool Sale at Alder Exceeds Last Season
The Ruby Valley wool pool clip sold Monday at about 25 to 26 cents per pound. About half a million pounds were sold or contracted as the shearing season advanced, with output exceeding last year and prices near doubling.
