Churches Followed the Railroad to Dillon and Gave Land
Dillon grew as church groups formed before the city. The Dillon City Lot Company donated land in 1880 toward a school and church sites. By 1883 Episcopal and Methodist churches stood, Catholic followed in 1887, and First Baptist began in 1883 with a 1885 building of over 6000 dollars. The era saw multiple denominations establish missions, buildings, and funds, with ongoing expansion and new facilities through the mid-20th century.
