Barrett hospital rises from Barrett gifts and local effort

A Dillon memorial story traces the Barrett hospital funded by Martin Barrett's $100 000 gift and earlier endowments from Joseph Shineberger and Margaret Roe. The seven acre land donation by State Bank and community aid enabled a June 1923 opening with a three story fireproof brick building, staffed by an executive group led by R M Barrett and Lyman Bennett. Bruce Brundage was the hospital’s first baby born there.
