Beaverhead County sees large rise in assessed property values

Assessor Phil Anderegg and Deputy Gilbert finalize Beaverhead county assessment totals as of last Saturday. The overall value excluding railroad property rises to 5 454 137 from 4 912 686, a gain of 541 551, with increases across most classes and only minor declines in sheep and mortgages. The board of equalization convenes next Monday to review figures and hear protests.

Minneopa dam breach causes flood damage near Rattlesnake Creek

A breached Minneopa lake dam released a flood along Rattlesnake Creek last Thursday, washing out cheap bridges and damaging land, waterworks, and a cattle herd. The incident followed a Fourth of July fishing party explosion near Tent Lake that loosened cribbing. No injuries or deaths reported. repairs and water filter upgrades are planned for Dillon.

Fast Gate Set for Next Sunday's Dillon vs Butte Game

Dillon welcomes the Butte Reduction Works baseball team as top opposition for the independent state championship. Virgil Gavin will pitch for Dillon with Wilson on the mound for the visitors. A special train from Butte is planned and local fans expect a large turnout. Wool traders in Dillon report an active market as the county's spring clip nears 1,750,000 pounds. Gov White notes this year's wool is the finest on record, with prices around 21 cents per pound and ten carloads already shipped. Pioneer Henry Edgar Recalls Montana’s Early Days

The Helena Independent recounts Henry Edgar of Plains renewing ties with Barney Hughes, survivor of Bill Fairweather’s Alder Gulch party. Edgar, Montana’s famed pioneer since 1859, recalls Snake River clashes with soldiers and a 50 year old bullet recovered from his shoulder. He pioneered Montana fruit agriculture and now owns a top orchard. at the Historical Library he showed a ring with gold from Alder Gulch nuggets.

Ringlings Circus to Perform in Dillon This August

Ringling Bros advance man N. J. Fetit arrives in Dillon to arrange two performances on Saturday August 10. The show is billed as the county’s biggest and best in years drawing crowds from surrounding towns in Idaho and the state. Dr Wellington and Dr Dawes noted in the osteopathic context nearby.
