Missing Man on Sinking Ship Confirmed Dead
Beevlerhead county family learns their son Pfc. Robert J. Rott, 20, reported missing Christmas Day in Europe, was aboard a transport sunk in the European theater and not among survivors. He had been overseas about four months and served with the military police in England. He trained as Army engineer and attended Montana State Normal College after Beaverhead High School.

Dillon Man Wounded for Third Time
Pfc. John Kmenta 27 a Dillon resident was wounded in Belgium January 11, his friend reports. He already holds the Purple Heart from Luxembourg injuries in late November and has three wounds since going overseas. He joined the service two years ago and has bought $50 in war bonds monthly.

Waste Paper Drive to Continue Saturday in Jackson
Mrs Celia Wilson Jackson gore proprietor fell on ice near her home and broke an ankle. She was taken to Dillon for treatment and remains at L M Holloran home. Ms Wilsons store will be closed until she resumes duties. Dillon residents are asked to place bundles of waste paper and rags on the curb Saturday morning as the drive continues under the recreation center auspices with trucks donated by the city and driven by city drivers.

Dillon Man Found Slumped in Parked Car in Cold Snap
The body of 56 year old John Lee of Beaverhead county was found in a parked car near the Metlen hotel after about a week. Coroner Raymond Schwartz says Lee died of exposure during the cold snap that hit on January 19. Police and hotel staff alerted authorities after a transient couple reported the quiet figure. Lee's employer had been seeking him for days. The discovery follows the region's brutal freeze.

Dell Old-Timer Dies at Barrett Hospital
Timothy Moriarty age 77 longtime Dell resident died at Barrett Hospital Monday night after a brief illness. Born October 16 1867 in Anascual Ireland he came to the United States as a boy and was naturalized in Helena October 21 1896. Mass was said at St Rose Catholic Church by Rev Timothy Clifford and interment followed in Mountain View cemetery.

Beaverhead board of county commissioners met in extra session January 22, 1945 at 9:00 a.m. with Commissioners Henneberry Stahl Jackson and Clerk Baker present. The funeral of Mrs. Roy R. Selway a long time Montana resident who died last Wednesday night was held Monday afternoon at the Brundage funeral home chapel.
