Woolgrowers elect leaders at annual Montana meeting

Charles H. Williams of Deer Lodge will lead the Montana Woolgrowers for the twenty-fifth year after being elected president at the convention in Elena. E. O. Selway of Dillon was chosen first vice president and an executive committee and board members were re elected, with Hibbard of Helena and Ryder of Bozeman also listed among officers.

Ted Renfro of Dell Is Second in Two Shoots

Trevose Pa January 28 Frank Trech of Portland Ore former Olympic shot won the second day shoot at Trevose Gun Club with a perfect score of 60. N B Pil lot of Houston and E W Renfro of Dell Mont tied for second with 49. Eugene Springer of Wildwood NJ was fourth with 48 and Otto Schultz of Sheridan Mont fifth with 46. Steve M Crothers of Philadelphia scored 99 of 100 in the 100 blue rock shoot. Renfro and Springer had 96 each.

Ice Harvest Season Underway At Patterson Ranch

Patterson and crew harvest Dillon’s ice this week using large blocks stored in warehouses on the Patterson ranch west of town. The supply will be used next summer as temperatures rise after a recent deep dip in the mercury.

Large Beaverhead Cattle Feeds Report for Winter and Spring

A First National Bank of Dillon survey shows Beaverhead county feeding over 12 thousand cattle for winter and spring delivery. Beef steers total 8,942. cows 8,147 including 410 feeder heifers. Most feeders are in the Big Hole basin. The colder spell eased recently.

Wisdom Man B R Stevenson Dies in Butte Hospital

B R Stevenson prominent resident of the Big Hole basin dies in a Butte hospital after a short illness following a fall that fractured his pelvis. Born December 27 1861 in Boston Massachusetts he was an early Wisdom settler and civil engineer who served as United States land commissioner at Wisdom. Funeral held in Salt Lake City after burial in transit from Dillon.

Boosters Prepare Vaudeville Night at State Normal College

The Boosters club of Montana State Normal college plans its annual vaudeville and stunt night for Friday February 7 in the college auditorium. The program features ten Orpheum acts and the election and coronation of the Woolvil queen. Irene Bryan of Distertainment is among the performers this year.

Dairy inspector H W Jacobson checked dairies around Dillon and reported a high standard. He remained in Dillon to speak at the high school on Production of Clean Milk to local dairymen and students, with sanitary methods and milk quality discussed. Montana Counties to Share Nearly 66 000 Forest Road Funds

Montana and Idaho counties receive shares of national forest receipts. Montana counties share 65 968.89 while Idaho counties obtain 156 928.12, based on law allocating lump sum funds by forest land area. Lincoln County leads Montana with about 11 900 for this year and total to date.
