They host Northern Montana at Havre in a conference game tonight, then travel to Pocatello for a return date with Idaho Southern Branch on Saturday. Four Day Recess Delays End Centennial Valley Murder Case
After a four day recess the trial of Samuel A Hayden Centennial rancher charged with murdering John O Connor last April will be resumed in district court tomorrow. Jurors illness and courtroom temperature delays pushed the case toward a Friday or Saturday jury verdict. Judge Lyman H Bennett presides with County Attorney Thomas E Gilbert prosecuting. Cross examination of Marielle Leake completed. Dr G L Routledge described head injuries and the shovel as a possible weapon. Kenneth Van Antwerp testified corroborating earlier state witnesses William Parish and Leake.

President's Ball Planned for January 30 at City Hall
Plans for the annual President's ball on January 30 at the city hall auditorium are nearing completion. Warren M. Stone chairs the committee with help from civic and fraternal representatives. Two bands Baxter Tonney orchestra and Don's Dance band will entertain. Seventy percent of proceeds go to the Orthopedic hospital in Billings with the rest to the Warm Springs foundation. Tickets are on sale at local businesses.

Dillon Club to Entertain at Luncheon
Members of Business and Professional Women's clubs in Butte Anaconda Deer Lodge and Helena will join the Dillon unit for a Sunday luncheon at Gleed's in Dillon. Fire of unknown origin destroyed the Alvin Owen home at Armstead about 8 o'clock Saturday morning in Dillon. Volunteers faced extreme cold and limited equipment. the family saved some belongings but the home and outbuildings were lost. Henry G. Smallhorn, 79, Beaverhead County rancher and longtime resident, died at Barrett Hospital after a long illness. born in Ireland January 12, 1866, naturalized at 22, long guided Smorn Canyon ranching, later lived in Dillon.

Last Civil War Vet of County Dies
Jonathan A. Hill, long a Beaverhead County resident and possibly the last Civil War veteran there, died at his Dillon home after a long illness. Born October 3, 1848 in Sharpsburg Maryland, he served with the Union as a youth before turning to ranching and mining in the West. He spent his final years in Dillon on a government pension. his funeral is set for 2 pm tomorrow.

Funeral of Pioneer Is Held in Dillon
Funeral services for Mrs. Lizza J. Bray pioneer matron of Madison county were conducted at Brundage Funeral Home Dillon with Rev H N Tragitt officiating. Interment followed at Lima cemetery. She died at 86 after a brief illness at her Sheridan home. She came to Montana with her husband in 1872 by covered wagon from Corinne Utah and lived at Silver Star for many years.

Supervisor E D Sanding of Beaverhead National forest announced the appointment of E D Flock of Martinsdale as assistant supervisor.
