Zone Cage Meet to Be Held at Beaverhead High
Beaverhead county high school will host eight Class B teams for the Zone Cage Meet in Beaverton Feb 21 to 23, marking the first district tournament since 1928. Beaverhead Post Honors Edwin O Nelson with Purple Heart
The Beaverhead post of the American Legion conferred the Purple Heart on World War II veteran Edwin O. Nelson at a Thursday meeting near Dillon. Nelson, wounded during the Meuse Argonne offensive on September 30, 1918, becomes the first Beaverhead veteran to receive the award. The gathering also closed the post membership drive with two teams exceeding their 1935 quota and about 40 veterans attending a Dutch lunch.

Rancher seriously wounded in accidental Sunday shooting
Blanche Stanfield, a prominent Birch Creek rancher, was treated at Barrett hospital for a bullet in the right foot from a rifle accidentally discharged by Henry J. Rodgers. An operation removed the bullet. Stanfield left the hospital Monday and is not expected to have lasting disability.
