J. H. Keenan was re elected president of the Beaverhead Sportsmen's association at the annual meeting. Mrs Keenan was secretary and other officers were reelected along with directors. The group supported restoring open migratory waterfowl dates Oct 22 to Dec 1 with shooting hours 7am to 5pm. Beaverhead residents and visiting Butte sportsmen discussed the proposal.

Navy Cross for rescue work aboard Squalus salvage
Chief Gunner Ted D. Fickes US Navy, husband of Dolly Ann Lacey of Dillon, was awarded the Navy Cross by President Roosevelt for his role in rescuing personnel from the sunken submarine Squalus off Portsmouth New Hampshire and aiding in salvage operations. Former Beaverhead Rancher Dies in Oregon Home
Jacob Streit, longtime Beaverhead county resident and rancher, died Monday at his Eugene Oregon home. He previously lived in Craig Montana and later moved to Oregon. Survivors include daughters Mrs Minnie Maw of Craig and Mrs Vivian Young of Portland. His body will be brought to Dillon for burial arriving tomorrow.

W G Gilbert of Dillon, president of the Montana Woolgrowers association, condemned a wool marketing bill to be shown to Congress. Speaking at the Helena session before 700 attendees, he said the measure would make the secretary of agriculture guardian of incompetent wool growers and impose tight controls on wool merchants.

President's Ball Set for Jan 27 to Aid Infantile Paralysis Fund
Beaverhead county chairman C A Bechler announced the annual President's Ball will move from Jan 30 to Jan 27 to draw a larger crowd. Half the proceeds stay local, with 50 percent from the dance also used locally.
