Coal tierchants fined in Judge Elliott court

Mrs. Addie J. Symington of Long Branch California challenged the will of Thomas H. Hamilton of Horse Prairie. Attorneys Kiera Clinton and W. S. Barbour filed the opposition alleging the will executed August 31 1905 while Hamilton was mentally unfit and unduly influenced by his wife Mary Jane Hamilton.

On New Year’s Day 1900 Dillon residents kept open house in a festive custom. Seventy plus gentlemen called on friends, while matrons and maids welcomed visitors at homes and hostesses organized elegant displays in parlor rooms. Notable gatherings included the McKinney Poindexter group and the Dormitory College ladies, with meals of sandwiches olives and coffee, piano music, and dancing into the evening.
