Selway Sees Low Wool Prices Hit Montana Flock
Senator N C Selway of Dillon predicts wool prices may fall from 75 cents to 30 cents a pound and lamb and cattle values drop as political and market factors reduce demand. He notes small sheep operators lose most, with ewes bought last year worth 7 to 8 dollars and lambs from 12 to 14 cents a pound. Shipping-car delays worsened losses as Montana lambs waited for cars during peak season.

Chickens Save Alfalfa Crop With Portable Fowl Houses
Western Montana farmers report halting a grasshopper raid by moving portable chicken houses into fields. Chickens feed on grasshoppers and alfalfa, thriving while protecting crops and saving waste feed. Placing houses on southern or eastern slopes near orchards provides shade and avoids damp air.
