Old Landmark Torn Down Near Hartwig Theatre

A crew began tearing down the 1885 North Idaho Street house next to Hartwig theatre. Built by Rev. D. Hooker, it served as residence and later a shoe shop space rented by C. H. Reherd. Owner A. F. Graeter may replace it with a three story business block.

Motorcycle accident breaks Keller's leg near Armstead

W H Keller manager of the Dillon Dry Goods Co. fractures both bones in his right leg when a motorcycle backs over a grade near Ryan's canyon. He was aided by K Keller and W A Graeter, then taken to town by EB Price and faces a month or more of recovery.

George Jack Arrested on Charge of Grand Larceny

Sheriff C K Wyman escorted George Jack from Dillon to Butte after he was accused of buying a stolen sheep. Warrant issued by R B Foster and George M Melton. Jack arraigned, pleaded not guilty, held on $2000 bond with hearing set next Thursday. He claims innocence and says he left Dillon for Butte weeks ago.

Bids Received for New Dillon Hotel Construction

Bids for a proposed Dillon hotel were opened in Butte last Monday with eleven bids submitted. Seven were rejected and four remain under consideration. Plumbing and heating bids will be let separately and both may be awarded by week’s end. The three story hotel will have a basement lobby cafe five rental shops and 65 sleeping rooms 45 with baths. Construction expected to start next month pending weather.

Beaverhead Oil Field Discovery Promises Oil

Beav erhead Oil & Gas officials led by Nels Nelson G T Paul and J E Shipman report a new oil find at about 900 feet in their field. Black oily liquid and oil-bearing rock along with recurring gas shows were collected from the shaft each lift. Officials caution this does not guarantee large production.

Rev Burton Goes East on a Business Mission

Reverend R W Burton leaves for a three to four week business trip to the east. Presbyterian church services continue with Sunday school at 9 45 A M and worship at 11 A M each Sunday. Professors Clark Garver and visitor Ellis will lead on scheduled Sundays. Burton plans to return for services on April 1.

George Kelly was arrested early this week by officers on a charge of burglary. He is accused of entering an Elliott cabin in the town’s north end and looting it of several articles.

Poindexter Begins Dillon Visit Before Honolulu Move

Judge J B Poindexter former Montana attorney general and newly appointed federal judge to Hawaii arrived in Dillon Monday for a week of home visits. He says it will be several weeks before he leaves for his new post and Mrs Poindexter will join him later to plan their move to Honolulu.
