Death shocks prominent Dillon physician Dr Maurice Walker

Dr Maurice A Walker longtime Dillon resident and Montana physician died suddenly at Murray hospital in Butte from a heart ailment. He had undergone a recent examination and died in his sleep early Friday. Funeral services were held at the Masonic temple in Dillon with Knights Templar officials in charge. Interment was at Mountain View cemetery. Born November 28 1867 in Levant Maine he studied at Denver University and Harvard affiliates before a medical career with the Union Pacific in Denver. He later moved to Montana and became a respected medical figure with thirty years in the state.

Beaverhead Mining Board Holds First Meeting

The Beaverhead Mining association held its first meeting Saturday night at Senator Pearl I. Smith office with representatives from several mining districts. A March 29 meeting was planned with mining experts giving talks. Committees on publicity and membership were appointed. County treasurer Miss Norah Connelley received 4155.25 dollars as Beaverhead county share of the state gasoline tax.

Gold Strike Reported at Bannack Montana

Rich gold strike reported at Bannack, Montana's first territorial capital, with high grade quartz found on the Gold Leaf claim. The leaseholder is C. W. Stallings, Banack mining man and Banack representative on the Hengerswad Mining association board.

Student Miss Bertini Paski Injures Ankle Near Examiner Office

Miss Bertini Paski, a Normal college student, fell and broke an ankle last Sunday evening in front of the Dillon Examiner office. She was taken to Barrett hospital for treatment.

Texacos defeat Eliels in Butte last night

Eliels independents suffered their first loss of the season 41 28 to the Texacos of Butte. Han dicapped by a small floor and absence of their regular center, illness hindered the Cardinals though they fought hard. Manion and O Rourke led the Texacos with 14 and 10 points. Breeden scored 8 for the locals. Dillon's Jud's High Powers lost 34 33 to Lima Independents in Lima. The Cardinals beat Society Candy 34 16 at the Normal gym.

Big Hole Basin Horses Are Shipped

In Montana four car loads of 88 head of first class draft horses were sent to eastern markets. C. E. Miller and Matt Christenson shipped two and one carloads to Kansas City and Ogden, while A. C. Byers sold one carload for Illinois delivery. Shippers earned about $7,000, averaging over $75 per head, per Dr. A. C. Morrow.

Native of City Dies in Seattle

ROSH POINDEXTER GIL BERT a former Dillon resident died suddenly in Seattle Sunday night. Born October 2, 1880 in Dillon she attended local schools and graduated from Dillon High School in 1899. She later lived in Butte and married J. W. Gilbert former associate editor of the Anaconda Standard now with the Seattle paper.

Girl Scouts Prepare Benefit Show at Training School

The Beaverhead county troop plans a home talent entertainment next Friday night in the training school auditorium. Miss Violet Eastman of the county high school faculty directs the show with the best amateur acts from the troop. Proceeds go to the Girl Scout fund.

District Governor Visits Dillon Rotary Club Luncheon

Wood of Billings, sixth district Rotary International, spoke at the Dillon Rotary Club luncheon outlining Rotary aims and urging a strong Dillon delegation to the Bozeman district convention. Gargoyles To Present Play At College Auditorium

The Gargoyles dramatic club of the Montana State Normal College will present a three act play Captain Applejack at the college auditorium Friday night March 7. Rehearsals have been in progress for two weeks under Miss Myrtle Savidge. The Arabian Nights adventure by Walter Hackett has run on Broadway.
