Dillon Boy Scouts wrapped up National Anniversary Week with a Saturday banquet at the Presbyterian church. Lima Scouts and fathers attended as guests. J. E. Kelly presided as toastmaster. OBE Hoover of Butte was the principal speaker on Older Scout Association. Talks by L Ott Gordon Rev H N Tragitt and LeRoy Gilbert followed with stunts and music. Presbyterian ladies served the meal. committee members included Wahl Kelly Cashmore and Fairbanks. Troops 40 and 42 held meetings and a Troop Good Turn day concluded the observance.

California Beaverhead Weather Records Show Long Subzero Gap
Beaverhead officials report Dillon and surrounding areas avoided below zero for a full year, a rare streak since February 1938. Records note subzero temps in Bannack Big Hole Armstead and Dillon in February 1938 and 1939, with observers predicting potential continuation of the warm spell into another year. Local thermometers show no subzero readings last night.

Miss Ruth B. McIntosh of Bozeman owner of an Oakland coupe and her driver Carl Lehrkind escaped injury when their car burned six miles north of Dillon due to a defective exhaust pipe. Fire extinguisher helped but the rear half burned. seven Dillon firms belong to the Associated Merchants of Montana.
Past Exalted Rulers Night At Dillon Elks Lodge
Past exalted rulers will be honored by the Dillon Elks lodge at the regular meeting next Tuesday night at the Odd Fellows hall. Secretary Earl L. Wheat announced the event with chairs for the business session filled by Terry Browning E L Poindexter John T. Orr and J Leonard Innes. A dance follows the meeting with refreshments served and Elks and their ladies invited.

Hog Control Program In Progress in Beaverhead County

Idaho Photographer Arrested on Bigamy and Trafficking Claims
Idaho man A. C. Conklin, who opened a photo studio recently, was arrested Monday by Undersheriff James McCallum and Chief Charles Nelson. He is jailed on possible charges in district court including bigamy and Mann Act violations for allegedly transporting a 16 year old from Rigby to Dillon and marrying her in Butte. He had another December marriage to Kirsten B. Conklin in Dillon, and the two remain married. Arrest was at the request of federal agents in Butte. The young woman was unaware of the photographer’s identity.
