New Hartwig Theatre Opens February 20 With Grand Opening
The Hartwig theatre debuts next Tuesday evening with the Vitagraph Blue Ribbon feature God's Country and the Woman. A matinee is scheduled for the afternoon and a Baxter Tonney orchestra will provide music. Admission is 25 cents and 60 cents for reserved seats. On Friday February 28 Dillon residents may see The Birth of a Nation, said to be the greatest film, with an eleven piece orchestra and a three hour runtime. A matinee is planned for the afternoon and the Old Pastime theatre will show the last picture on Tuesday evening.

Crescents Win Fast Games In Dillon Exhibition
The Crescent basketball team of Chicago defeated an All Star squad 35 to 30 in Dillon last Monday with Rynksel scoring 18 of the 30. They followed with a 26 to 14 win over the local high school team on Tuesday. Brupdage led the stellar performance and Drummey sparked the team. Next Saturday they host Blackfoot Idaho for the season finale.

Poindexter Returns from Washington to Assume Hawaii Post
Judge J B Poindexter arrived in Helena from Washington DC and will move to Honolulu after a Dillon visit to prepare for his new role as U S district judge in the Hawaiian Islands. Valentine Social and Candy Sale set for Friday evening February 16 at the Methodist church hosted by Epworth league youngsters.

Redmen Initiate Many New Members in Dillon
Last Saturday evening a large number of candidates were initiated into the Redmen lodge with ceremonies at the Redmen hall. The Butte and Anaconda lodges conducted the work. About seventy five Redmen traveled from Shoshone tribe No. 1 in a special car to Dillon, where a delegation met them at Silver Bow. A banquet for about 150 Redmen followed the initiation, then a smoker concluded the evening.

Chas Green Dies at County Poor Farm
Charles Green aged 72 died last Monday afternoon at the county hospital after a long illness. An old time sheep shearer he had been a resident of the county poor farm for some time. Burial was held yesterday morning in Mountain View cemetery.

Beav erhead county leads Montana with Mathews Peyre & Girard selling 1917 wool clip to J E Hample at 40 cents per pound. The Kidd outfit will yield about 109000 pounds valued at 43600 dollars, with projections for a clip near 3.7 million pounds statewide and possible higher payments from other buyers like Hallo well Jones & Donald J R Edgehill. Woods Livestock previously sold wool at 36 to 39 cents.

Movement for New County Road Groundwork in Beaverhead
Beaverhead Montana commissioners convened February 5 1917 with all members present. They approved January minutes and heard viewers report a proposed road is feasible and necessary. Dodgson Brown offer right of way across Fassler ground and to supply culverts and build the road at no cost. County to cancel delinquent taxes per property report.

City Council Hears Street Improvements Proposal
The Helena city council met Wednesday evening with Mayor Gilbert and six council members present. Resolutions were adopted to request the state legislature amend statutes on supervision of municipal utilities by the public service commission. Farm Loan Association planned for Beaverhead county
An important meeting will be held in the city hall auditorium next Saturday at two o'clock to organize a farm loan association for Beaverhead county. It aims to affiliate with the National Farm Loan association and requires ten or more farmers to join. Members may borrow up to ten thousand dollars, with funds available by March 15, and no territory limits beyond state lines. They may later form a local bank in Dillon. S. S. Patterson travels to Pennsylvania for weeks and will attend Woodrow Wilson's inauguration. Mrs. Patterson and Spencer go to California March 1, joining later by Mr. Patterson.
