New River Bridge Accepted by Beaverhead County Board

Beaverhead County Montana approves acceptance of two bridges after inspection trips to Mooney and Anderson sites. The February 4 5 1924 meeting authorizes bond releases, tax delinquencies, and contracts for grasshopper control materials and road work with local contractors and government officials present.

Fordson Day Draws Ranchers to Dillon Beaverhead Motors

National Fordson Week observed as ranchers from across Beaverhead County gathered at Beaverhead Motors in Dillon. A ten reel Fordson movie and live tractor demonstrations, with Fordson rep Mr. Hawser, highlighted the event along with free hot dogs and coffee. Bud Gault chaired the show predicting higher tractor demand as ranchers note greater efficiency and cost savings over horses.

Preliminary premium list for Dillon livestock show

Montana and Beaverhead county lead in state livestock. Dillon hosts the Montana Stockgrowers Association meeting with a livestock show and auction sale. Entries close March 26. show runs April 24 25 26 1924 in Dillon. Judges are nationally recognized. transportation at full rail rates with free return within 30 days.

Dillonites Enjoy Musical Attraction Friday

Capacity audience welcomed concert violinist I L Tello in Dillon for his first appearance here at the Normal auditorium under the Normal Lyceum bureau. Tello’s superb technique and perfect intonation impressed listeners who demanded generous encores. Mrs Tello accompanied on piano, contributing to a delightful evening.

Beaverhead Demolays Lose to Virginia City High

The Beaverhead Demolays basketball team traveled to Virginia City and were defeated 31 to 20 by the local high school squad. One foul was called against Foster of Dillon, and the small half regulation size floor hampered speed. Players on the trip were Warren Murray, Dell Lloyd, Rodney Foster, Ernest Nelson, Fred Dullenty, William Nelson, and Bernard Whitworth.

Wool Market Seen Bright for Beaverhead County

Beaverhead County grows expect a strong wool season as a 60 000 pound Dillon clip sold to Adams & Leland of Boston at over 40 cents. Idaho Livestock Co wool from First National warehouse fetched around 43 cents. Arizona wool tops 45 cents with half a million pounds contracted. Taylor clip in Nevada at 35 cents signals heavy shrinking wool. Eastern buyers have visited the field and 1924 wools may bring 46 cents or more.

Wisdom Pioneer George Woodworth Dies in California

Long Beach, California, claims veteran Beaverhead rancher George Woodworth who died of pneumonia after a week’s illness. “Uncle George” Woodworth, born August 31 1845 in Williams County Ohio, moved to Montana in 1865 and became a leading stock grower in Beaverhead. Senator Frank A Hazelbaker to transport remains to Dillon for burial with Mrs Woodworth.

Legion Minstrel and Vaudeville Practice Starts

The American Legion show directed by Terry Browning will be performed March 12 and 13. Browning, a top comedian, will supervise a curtain raiser and original stunts. Baxter Tonney and Lonnie’s orchestras join for a strong musical program as practice begins this week.
