City Council to Consider Sunday Saloon Closures
City council meets at city hall to discuss a possible ordinance closing saloons on Sundays and from midnight to 6 a.m. The meeting, presided by Alderman Best in Mayor White's absence, is expected to be brief with routine reports and no major petitions filed. Police fines from January totaled 465.00, largely from saloons for gambling. treasurer reports January collections at 3,167.10 with dog, sewer, water, and other taxes contributing.

State School Chief Praises Dillon Schools
Hon W E Harmon state superintendent of public instruction spent two days in Dillon inspecting the county high school public schools and the State Normal College. He praised the training system, noting strong supervision and good grade coordination, and ranked Dillon’s college with Montana’s best. He leaves Helena tonight after favorable comments to The Examining representative.

Lecture on The Yellowstone Park at Baptist Church

Large Beaverhead Ranch Deal Sealed In Valley
A major ranch sale on the Beaverhead below Dillon closed Saturday. Thorpe Livestock Co. sold two Thorpe properties, including a 1100 acre hay and grain ranch with improvements, cattle, and 14 work horses to Martin Sorenson and Mads Sorenson. The other 159 acre parcel went to John Banks. The price was not disclosed.

A syndicate led by John F. Cowan plans rapid development in Beaverhead County Montana after taking over the Iron Mountain, Magnolia, and Little Whale claims. Record bounty payments set monthly high this year
Clerk John S. Baker reports bounty business steady with December killing total leading to a record $905 in certificates issued. Inspectors tallied 271 coyotes 7 wolves and 1 mountain lion with most activity in the county’s southern region. Kingsley claimed 94 coyotes earning $282 as the largest single award.
