Electric road planned linking Dillon to Madison county

W H Godfrey of Sheridan outlines an electric rail plan from Dillon through Twin Bridges Sherman Laurin Ruby to Virginia City and toward Yellowstone Park area. Estimated 100 miles at 6000 dollars per mile with 500000 already pledged. local subscriptions of 15000 20000 expected, rights of way secured, eastern investors impressed, construction hoped soon.

Prominent Montanan W. J. Linder Dies After Operation

W J Linder a pioneer ranch man of Beaverhead county and owner of Dillon property died at St Johns hospital following an operation. He came to Montana in 1864 with others by overland team and worked a Virginia City placer claim before homesteading near Twin Bridges. He leaves four children and a widow Mrs Linder. The body will be taken to Twin Bridges for burial.

Manse Ladies Outline Unique Entertainment Plan

The Manse Society at the Presbyterian church will host a Friday evening social with each member earning one dollar and presenting her experience. Some will perform pantomime or poetry. refreshments will be provided. admission is 25 cents and the public is invited.

Birch Creek Water Case Findings Reaffirm Older Ruling

Judge L L Callaway delivers findings in the Birchdale Stock Farm v Hawley J Selway et al case. He upholds prior Wells vs Wilson and Selway vs Wells decisions, fixes minimum flow at 500 inches, and allows storage of surplus waters by Birchdale and Morse at Birch creek head. The decision details individual rights including 80 inches via Russell 1881, 125 inches via Russell Blunt 1883, 00 inches via Boatman 1804, and 280 inches to J E Moree through George Stover 1900, with a 1200 inch appropriation by Eureka ditch amended August 1900. The document is lengthy and analyzes each right in detail.

Land Board backs Bedrock lake irrigation project

The Montana State Board of Land Commissioners in executive session approved two resolutions supporting H B 3071 Dixon bill to reclaim arid tracts and aid inundated lands. The board clarifies no pledge to sell lease or dispose state lands and leaves future decision on disposition and payments open.

Former Normal College Student Flora L Davis Dies

Miss Flora L Davis, graduate of Montana State Normal School class of 1901, dies after a four year illness in Bozeman. She was a Dillon resident with many local friends and leaves three brothers and three sisters. Funeral set for Thursday at the Episcopal church with Rev Frank B Lewis officiating.

Dillon City Council Debates Saloons And Fire Alarm Upgrades

Last Wednesday night Dillon’s city council discussed closing saloons at midnight to 6 am and Sunday closure. Aldermen Bond and Selway pushed for the measure, others opposed. ordinance planned for early March with likely April effect. Fire department urged electric fire bells costing about 250 dollars. water mains extensions petitioned. public numbering of houses urged. water rents collection hours set for Badcon with shutoff if unpaid.

Dillon Couple Arrested on Forgery Charge in Billings

Mrs James Jeffries and Fred Gardner were arrested in the Luzon restaurant on forgery charges after using checks drawn on the Success restaurant owner Tommy Howie. The pair, said to be wanted in Butte, borrowed money to eat and bought goods with three forged checks totaling about 100 dollars. The book containing the checks had been stolen from Howie’s room. A deputy sheriff was dispatched to Billings to return them.
