Whitehall Judge Duncan Fills Fifth District Seat
Philip C Duncan of Whitehall resigned from the state senate last fall and ran unopposed on the non partisan ticket for the Fifth Judicial District judge position covering Beaverhead County. The seat opened after Lyman H. Bennett left last summer and was briefly held by John B McIlennan and William R Taslor before John Collins of Dillon was appointed. Collins served from Sept 1 to Jan 1 and planned to return to private practice afterward. Duncan won broad support in the general election and is seen as a fitting choice for the role.
