Large oat crop from Ruby Valley ranches led by X. Larabee
A Madison county report notes the Ruby Dale and Brook Nook ranches in the upper Ruby valley owned by X. Larabee of Portland Oregon produced 1,100,000 pounds of oats plus substantial wheat and barley. Oats averaged 75 bushels per acre, wheat 51, barley 85. The two ranches stock thoroughbred horses and cattle and will feed grain on site this winter. Larabee plans a March or April shipment of horses to Portland and coast markets for driving use. Trainers will prepare the stock for sale to high bred animal fanciers.
