Local Red Cross workers met in the Community building Saturday afternoon to organize a county chapter branch. Officers elected include Chairman Mrs Chas E B Miller Treasurer Mrs Dave Hirschey Secretary Miss Minnie Keas and Finance Chair A M Sheimo. Yarn for twenty sweaters was ordered from Dillon and fourteen ladies volunteer to knit every Thursday afternoon for the soldiers. All are invited to join knitting bees. Short Line Railroad Recovery Tickets Found

Fewer Beef Steers Fed in Beaverhead County Says Governor
Governor B F White, a noted beef production authority, reports 10 545 beef steers on feed in Beaverhead County this year, marking a decline from ten years ago. He attributes this to ranchers in the Big Hole basin and Centennial valley focusing on raising their own stock and feeders to reduce hay use. Beaverhead County will host a federal income tax officer from January 2 to January 7 1918 at the court house in Dillon for free help with 1917 returns. The collector estimates 93 taxpayers in the county and warns of penalties from 20 to 100 dollars or jail for failure to file by March 1 1918.
