Campaign to Sell Thrift Stamps Starts in Beaverhead
Beaverhead county begins a thrift stamp drive with the aim of selling 140000 in baby bonds this year. Frank Hazelbaker, county chairman, announced appointed Dillon agents including C H Niblack Montana Mercantile Co and others, urging citizens to become war savings agents with small starts of 10 to 20 dollars to build stock and sell stamps locally.

Beaverhead County Man Dies in Butte
Milton Garr a longtime Beaverhead County resident died last Sunday morning at Murray hospital in Butte after a week of illness. Born October 4 1880 in Yow he mined in Glendale Beaverhead County and districts including Butte Argenta and Hik horn. Funeral Tuesday at the Methodist church burial in Mountain View cemetery. Survived by two brothers Frank and Alva Garr of Dell and a sister Mrs Mattie Campbell of Molton Iowa.

Noah Allen became owner of the Clarence Morrison ranch on Birch Creek in a closing by Frank Hazelbaker last Friday. The property, mostly under cultivation, brought $18,000. Noah Allen previously worked as a rancher near Melrose. Last Monday a license to wed was issued to Ralph Kendall of Dubois Idaho and Miss Anna Callahan of Denver Colorado.

Boy Fatally Struck By Auto in Dillon Tragedy
In Dillon a nine year old boy, Leland Anderson, died after being hit by a Buick roadster driven by Harry Andrus near the Baptist church. Eyewitnesses say Andrus could not avoid the child who ran toward a dog. the car stopped quickly but the skull fracture proved fatal. Funeral set for tomorrow at two at the Methodist church.

Cow Owners In Montana Must Obtain State License
Helena reports a clarification of state law: any person who keeps a cow and sells milk or cream to a consumer or a creamery is a dairyman and must procure a state license. The board of health issues licenses at no charge, with penalties for noncompliance, issued in the state’s name through a cooperative arrangement with the dairy commissioner.

Wool price record set in Beaverhead County by Harkness
Darkness, a Beaverhead stockmaster, reports the top price for wool 71 cents per pound in Chicago for 1917 clips. His prior 36 and 64 cent receipts are surpassed, making this the highest wool price in Beaverhead and the Northwest. Other growers sold 60 to 64 cents.

Hold Up Near Apex A Sheepherder Robbed And Tied
James Turner, a sheepherder for Arby Beardslee, was robbed of thirteen dollars near the Apex post office. He was marched to a sage brush stump, his hands tied, and his feet bound. He freed himself by morning and reached Dillon to report to the sheriff. Jesse Roy and Yd Walker were arrested in connection with the case.

Mrs Edinger Receives Red Cross Certification and Montana Post
Mrs Isaac Edinger recently returned from the east and completed the Red Cross survival dressings course in Minneapolis earning a certificate to wear the red veil. She is appointed field secretary by the Minneapolis chapter to assist Harry Yaeger in Great Falls in organizing Red Cross chapters across Montana. The Baptist Aid society will entertain tomorrow afternoon at the homes of Mrs R R Rathbone and Mrs R H Ryburn.
