Couple Involved in Accident Sunday Near Melrose Idaho
A holiday trip to St Anthony Idaho ended when the car carrying Mr and Mrs B V Stevens of Missoula left the highway a mile and a half south of Melrose and stopped in an irrigation ditch. Patrolman Robert Wright cited a probable blowout. Mrs Stevens received treatment for cuts and bruises. no serious injuries reported. Leonard Schulz attended a pardon board meeting in Helena linked to William J Heaston convicted in 1939 of murder and sentenced to life.

Armstead Post Office Burglarized In Bearhead County
Beaverhead county officials probed the Armstead post office theft observed Thursday night. Postal inspectors from Missoula appraised the damage on Saturday revealing about 12 dollars in cash, a piece of registered mail, 60 money order blanks, rubber stamps, and shears stolen. Entries were made through a hand inserted hole and a re locked door. Postmistress Guyaz did not note the loss until two hours after starting work Friday morning. Nearby Montana Power company cars and G P steel gang vehicles had tools and gasoline stolen from the lot.

Beaverhead county students at the Montana State Normal college dominate the honor roll with six of twenty four honorees. The college will grant winter quarter scholarships to eight students overall, including one from the junior class. Awards follow State Board of Education standards and honor demonstrated scholarship, character and promise, capped at five percent of sophomore through senior enrollment. Last year’s teaching demand left only one junior eligible this year.

George Botts Services Held Last Saturday
George Botts 71 was laid to rest at Mountain View cemetery after services at St. James Episcopal Church led by Rev. W. G. Lewis. He died Friday morning at his East Glendale home after four months of illness. Born November 2 1869 in Higham on the Hill England he moved to Dillon in 1888 to mine in Hecla then served as Mountain View cemetery sexton from 1916 to 1930. He returned to mining ten years ago and retired. Survived by wife Anna a brother and other relatives in England.
