He was a famed old-time cow puncher linked with P and O operations and Western folklore. Boy Scout Fund Drive Is Success
Dillon over-subscribed its quota in the Boy Scout fund drive and expects a larger total as final reports come in. Christmas Celebration in Beaverhead 1877
The first community Christmas in Beaverhead valley occurred in 1877 at the old Poin dexter schoolhouse on Christmas Eve. Organizers included Tom and Terrence Flynn Frank Landon and Sim Estes among Blacktail residents. After the Nez Perce conflict eased following Chief Joseph’s retreat, settlers felt justified in a joyful holiday gathering.

Dillon Students Start Christmas Vacation
Christmas vacation began last Friday for most Dillon students as the Montana State Normal College and training school closed for the holiday. Beaverhead county high school will suspend activities Friday to allow students and faculty to greet St. Nicholas and the New Year. All schools resume January 2 signaling the college winter quarter. Many college students remain at home across the state and county high school pupils also depart for a week or more.
