Dillon art lovers view reproductions of masterpieces from many countries in a Metlen building display under the Dillon Parent-Teachers Association. Proceeds from a small admission go to buy pictures for Dillon schools. The exhibit opens Monday and runs to Friday.
George F. Gray an old-time rancher of the Grasshopper valley died in Anaconda after a brief illness. His death shocked Beaverhead county friends. The remains were brought to Dillon Monday afternoon for a funeral planned for the next day.
Commissioners approve twenty thousand dollars to match federal aid bringing total to thirty thousand dollars under a forty to sixty basis for the new road project north of the city.
The Dillon city council met at city hall for the December session and audited and allowed a list of bills. Payments included salaries for city staff, utilities, supplies from Union Electric Co., Montana Auto Supply Co., Philips Garage, and The H. W. Wilson Co., plus maintenance and labor charges.
Early Friday a lone burglar entered Eliel Brothers department store and City Baking Co. through rear doors. He looted City Baking of $1.70 and Eliel’s of about $13 before being frightened off by Night Officers Warren Sutherland and Charles Bourquin who exchanged shots as the suspect fled toward Montana street.
Rev F M Lechner announces Dillon will have a new Catholic church built next spring and summer located south of the rectory. Plans say it will be among the finest of its kind in the state. The old church will be remodeled into a clubhouse. the church dates to 1888 and has outgrown its size.
Beaverhead County Montana board of commissioners met December 3 1928 in Dillon. The trio authorized each commissioner to inspect roads bridges and county buildings for the ensuing month and to supervise work on the courthouse machine sheds county farm and other properties.
City streets will be lined with evergreen garlands and holiday flowers to boost festive spirit during the Christmas season and brighten the thoroughfares with bright colors and cheer.
Beaverhead commissioners seek federal aid to build 76 mile highway from Dan Mooney ranch in Beaverhead canyon up Grasshopper to Bannack then via Mill Point Jackson Wisdom to the Big Hole battlefield. Board approves 20000 local match with 30000 federal funds to extend the route toward Apex and Daly's Spur.
C L Miller, former Dillon resident, died Monday at his daughter Mrs T J Murray's home in San Jose California. Details continued on page.
Zetta Landon Carter filed a stipulation in district court seeking admission of the late Frank Landon will to probate. The land valued over 150000 was involved in one of the area’s notable suits. a jury trial in January ended with a hung verdict after 21 hours of deliberation against the Orr brothers as principal defendants.
Auction of livestock farm implements and household goods will be held at the A. L. Downing ranch north of Lima next Tuesday. Sale starts as scheduled with details continued on page 4.
Thirty-nine students appear on the autumn quarter honor roll led by Jerry Fogarty of Wilsall with 3.0 grade points per credit. Hazel Carpenter of Poplar and Anda Peterson of Hinsdale follow, with several first-year students also listed. the list reflects grades above two points per credit for a 15 or more credit program.
Three women escaped with only slight injuries after a sedan owned by Charles Snodgrass overturned on the reservoir hill road west of the city. The car rolled end over end on a curve when brakes engaged as it descended at speed, leaving the four wheels in the air and the top damaged but no glass broken. Judge Phillips officiated last Monday at the wedding of Bogher Brasseur and Mrs. Dora Jones, both noted as young residents of Adaho.

Montana State Normal’s Bull dogs lost 45-17 to a Twin Bridges quintet in the college gym. Coach O Kay Moe eyes a scheduled game with an independent team later this month as Mt. St. Charles and School of Mines clash with the Bulldogs next month. Beaverhead county high School Beavers field a large squad, with nearly forty students and veterans vying for positions after receiving their letters this month led by Captain Frank Little and Harold Price among others.
