Masters on display as Dillon hosts art prints exhibit

Dillon art lovers view reproductions of masterpieces from many countries in a Metlen building display under the Dillon Parent-Teachers Association. Proceeds from a small admission go to buy pictures for Dillon schools. The exhibit opens Monday and runs to Friday.

Funeral Here Had Been Rancher in Grasshopper Valley

George F. Gray an old-time rancher of the Grasshopper valley died in Anaconda after a brief illness. His death shocked Beaverhead county friends. The remains were brought to Dillon Monday afternoon for a funeral planned for the next day.

County to Match Federal Aid on New Road North of City

Commissioners approve twenty thousand dollars to match federal aid bringing total to thirty thousand dollars under a forty to sixty basis for the new road project north of the city.

Bills Allowed by Dillon City Board December Session

The Dillon city council met at city hall for the December session and audited and allowed a list of bills. Payments included salaries for city staff, utilities, supplies from Union Electric Co., Montana Auto Supply Co., Philips Garage, and The H. W. Wilson Co., plus maintenance and labor charges.

Burglar Breaks In Two Stores Through Rear Doors

Early Friday a lone burglar entered Eliel Brothers department store and City Baking Co. through rear doors. He looted City Baking of $1.70 and Eliel’s of about $13 before being frightened off by Night Officers Warren Sutherland and Charles Bourquin who exchanged shots as the suspect fled toward Montana street.

New Catholic Church Planned for Dillon Next Year

Rev F M Lechner announces Dillon will have a new Catholic church built next spring and summer located south of the rectory. Plans say it will be among the finest of its kind in the state. The old church will be remodeled into a clubhouse. the church dates to 1888 and has outgrown its size.

Road Program Outlined by Beaverhead County Commissioners

Beaverhead County Montana board of commissioners met December 3 1928 in Dillon. The trio authorized each commissioner to inspect roads bridges and county buildings for the ensuing month and to supervise work on the courthouse machine sheds county farm and other properties.

Landon will contest dismissed as settled in probate action

Zetta Landon Carter filed a stipulation in district court seeking admission of the late Frank Landon will to probate. The land valued over 150000 was involved in one of the area’s notable suits. a jury trial in January ended with a hung verdict after 21 hours of deliberation against the Orr brothers as principal defendants.

Three in Narrow Escape as Sedan Crashes on Hill

Three women escaped with only slight injuries after a sedan owned by Charles Snodgrass overturned on the reservoir hill road west of the city. The car rolled end over end on a curve when brakes engaged as it descended at speed, leaving the four wheels in the air and the top damaged but no glass broken. Beavers Upset Bulldogs In Early Season Opener
