W A Jones of Dillon Dies in Los Angeles at Sixty
W A Jones a Dillon pioneer grocer and miner died suddenly from a heart attack at his Los Angeles home after years in California business. He built a fortune as manager of Western Lithographing Company and left Dillon twelve years ago for the coast. He is survived by his brother Lorin Jones and his wife. The funeral will be held in California.

Young Matron Doak Dies In Dillon
Mrs. C. S. Doak died at Barrett hospital after a weeks long illness. Born in Hamilton she grew to womanhood and married Clarence Doak. The family lived in Twin Bridges before moving to Dillon last summer when he managed the local telephone exchange. Surviving are her husband and two young children. Funeral services were held at Brundage chapel and burial will be in Hamilton.

Pioneer James H. Phillips Dies in Lima Montana
James H. Phillips, longtime resident and pioneer, died Friday morning at his sister Mrs. Emily Gleed home in Lima after weeks of illness. Born in England in 1889, he came to Utah then Montana via Brigham and worked as a freighter and railroad employee before turning to ranching. Survived by two daughters Mrs. Emily Gleed and Mrs. Jack McDowell of Lima and two brothers. Funeral held Sunday. interment in Lima cemetery.

Popular Dillon Couple Married in Butte Saturday
W. W. Hawkins and Miss Katherine Jones were married in Butte on Saturday night at 10 o’clock. The ceremony was at RS church with Rev Hutlutt officiating and attended by W. D. Ross and Miss Beatrice Christman. The couple returned to Dillon for a short honeymoon and will live there. The bride, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Jones, grew up in Dillon and has worked in the Montana State Normal College president’s office. The groom, a Dillon resident, is a field man for the First National Bank and served as a captain in the AEF overseas. he is active in Beaverhead post of the American Legion.

Beaverhead County Montana commissioners convened December 1 1924 with Chairman A L Anderson presiding. The board opened bids for county physician and printing contracts and awarded Examiner Printing Company a two year county printing contract starting January 1925, while Dr W H Stephan secured the county physician bid. A road petition hearing and other formal actions were scheduled for January 5 1925.

Dillon Basketball Opens December 18 With Local Showdowns
The Dillon Independents and Beaverheads chapter of DeMolay clash December 18 to open the season. The Independents boast a large offense oriented squad led by captain Frank Sweeney with scrimmage standouts such as Lawrence Price and Vorhees Paddock. DeMolays return four holdovers plus new talent and will face Sheridan High School next Friday before traveling. The city teams plan early year exhibitions including a January 6 date with Montana State Normal College.
