Beav erhead 4 H calves fed for show ring record
Two Beaverhead county 4-H livestock clubs the Rocky Mountain club of Grasshopper valley and the Beaverhead club of Dillon plan to feed calves for the coming year. Members have selected calves from local herds and the project aims to teach cost per pound of gain and finish quality while showcasing breeding and feeding progress. Last year six Beaverhead calves earned three prime two choice and one good at the Great Falls 4 H fair with only eight calves nationally earning prime.

Funeral Services For Lima Infant Held Monday
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon for Donald Gottsch infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Gottsch of Lima. The baby died at Murray hospital in Butte last Thursday. Interment was in the Lima cemetery. Survived by parents three grandparents and several aunts and uncles in Montana Oklahoma and Butte.

Pardons Board to Rule on Heaston Release
The Montana Board of Pardons meets Friday December 20 to consider an unconditional pardon for William J Heaston Jr 80 of Wise River. Heaston was sentenced to life on January 18 1939 for shooting Joe W Potts on July 24 1938 at Wise River after an altercation in which Potts and Heaston Jr argued and Potts allegedly threatened to kill him. Potts a rancher and deputy sheriff had a history of disputes with Heaston dating back two decades.

Roads to Ski Course Will Be Kept Open
The Elkhorn Hot Springs ski course opened last weekend with about twenty four skiers enjoying three slides in nearly perfect conditions and 16 inches of snow. The lodge will be open weekends with sandwiches coffee and chili. Road from Farleys to the course will be plowed weekends and parking will be provided. The U S Weather Bureau will publish skiing conditions beginning mid December. Edwin Buck was elected president of Dillon Ski Club with Mrs Roscoe Cornell and Miss Helen Dahlberg as officers. Dillon tallied 700 memberships vs 519 last season, and about $1,025 has been turned over to Beaverhead chapter treasurer G. D. James Hurley, 77, died Tuesday evening at the county farm. A Beaverhead county resident for about 20 years, he was born in Ireland. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday. there are no known relatives.
