Beaverhead High Seeks Land for Experiment Station
Trustees and faculty of Beaverhead county high school asked county commissioners to set aside 10 acres of the county poor farm for an experiment station under the Agricultural College of Bozeman. The action was delayed as the contract for the poor farm had already been let. J H Hamilton praised the school’s agricultural and domestic science results in a Helena address before the state board of education.

Dean Hopper hosted a brilliant reception in the dormitory dining room last Friday evening with dancing and lavish black and gold decorations. Sixty couples led by Dean Hopper and President Swain enjoyed punch, sandwiches, coffee, cake, and wafers as faculty, board members, their wives, and village guests mingled.

Woolgrowers to Meet in Helena With Midwinter Sheep Show
The National Woolgrowers association will convene in Helena, Montana, January 14 for a three day session. Helena hosts a midwinter Sheep Show with $1,500 in premiums, aims to attract 2,000 visitors, and seeks 300 new members. John Tessier recently returned from Canada and plans to buy a Beaverhead valley ranch and settle there. He has seen much country since leaving Montana, and he and others who left Montana long to return. Tessier formerly engaged in ranching and stock raising in the Big Hole basin and is glad to be back with the community.

Lima man learns of son’s rise to Pacific coast lumber firm
B F Cheeney of Lima says his son Glenn wrote from Tacoma that he has been promoted to general manager at a major lumber company on the Pacific coast. Glenn left Lima four years ago after a commercial course and now holds a top accountant position with a leading firm.

Pioneer Lady Neilson Dies After Long Dillon Life
Mrs. Johanna Christina Neilson aged 87 a Dillon pioneer known as Grandma Neilson died after a brief illness. She was born in Sweden in 1820 and came to Dillon with her husband in 1881. Funeral held at the Episcopal church with interment at Mountain View beside her husband. A charitable modest woman she left a son Charles. Her memory endures for acts of kindness in Dillon.

County Treasurer Reports Near Total Tax Collection
County Treasurer W F Cash says Beaverhead county taxes are nearly all paid with about 800 still delinquent. About 145000 has been collected, and payments have come in steadily since tax time, easing work for Cash and his deputy.

Death After Hay Fork Accident Near Dillon
Charles Ritchey employed at the ten mile house died from injuries suffered while aiding a hay move at the Thomas Haw ranch. He was pinned between the hay rack and a hitching post after a horse incident and died days later at the county hospital. Ritchey served with New York battery in the Philippines and China, and was buried at Mountain View cemetery.
