Thanksgiving Day Observed Quietly in Dillon Area

Thanksgiving day was quietly observed in Dillon and the county with a traditional feast. Transportation difficulties kept trips short. Community services were held Thursday at St James Episcopal Church led by Rev Calvin J Logan and Rev Lewis D Smith. St James choir performed and area schools were dismissed Wednesday and Thursday. Bozeman November 23. Montana Agricultural Experiment Station submits a plan for a homemade auto buckrake to aid farmers in haying during slack winter months. Fall Weather Gives Beaverhead Ranchers Ample Feed Ahead

Beaverhead county ranchers report a mild fall ensuring ample feed this winter. Thousands of stock remain on range and pasture, with minimal hay usage needed. Grass growth was average to below in some areas but enough to last late into fall, keeping livestock in excellent condition though herds remain large for winter.

August Hoffman and Anna Wil arms 6th of Roberts Idaho were issued on November 28. Flavel Topham and Mary Lydona Montgomery of Burley Idaho were issued on November 24.

Beaverhead Paper Salvage Drive Under Way

Beaverhead county begins a community paper salvage drive with pickups planned on December 4 and 11. Buck leads the drive collecting about 48 dollars in jars placed in local businesses. Forty Five Beaverhead High School Future Farmers of America members will assist with five trucks, storing gathered material at First National warehouse or Bond Grocery warehouse.

Dairy Feed Payments Open in Beaverhead County

Eleven dairy producers in Beaverhead county have applied for 208.58 dollars under a program to offset feed cost differentials from higher prices. Payments cover October production and continue until November 30 at the county AAA office in Dillon. Beaverhead county high school district basketball champions begin their season with a home game against Deer Lodge high on Friday December 10. Additional pre holiday games include Anaconda high Friday December 17 at home and Butte Central Saturday December 18 away. Gosmans and Tribune tie for first in the Commercial league at Dillon Bowling Center with 20 wins and 10 losses. Evans Burrells posts a 232 single and 585 for three. Truck and car collide in Beaverhead canyon

A car driven by George Michelish of Lima was side-swiped by a truck owned by Pierce Trucking in Beaverhead canyon, 15 miles south of Dillon. Undersheriff Claude Lay said the heavily laden truck was driven by A. O. Stevens. No injuries were reported and the Michelish car was badly damaged and brought to Dillon.

Beaverhead County treasurer Evelyn Lloyd reported tax payments during the collection period were near normal in Beaverhead. The deadline passed yesterday at 5 p.m. with many payments expected by mail in the coming days, as real property full payments predominated in November over half payments. The closing days kept staff busy with long lines at the windows.
