Warren W. Sheppard, 56, well known Dillon garage owner, is in critical condition with a bullet wound to the head after being found seated in the street. Police recovered a .45 pistol and believe the wound may have been self-inflicted, with the motive undetermined. In a separate note, the Dillon Chamber of Commerce reported state officials authorized improvements to the Dillon Twin Bridges highway, with the first contract set to be let in October.

Fingerlings Planted In Beaverhead Streams By Butte Anglers
About 20 000 rainbow trout fingerlings were delivered from Maiden Rock hatchery to Dillon for stocking lower Blacktail creek and Beaverhead river. Six thousand were kept at Glen Lyon farm for later release into Estler lake and Scott lake in the Argenta district. The Butte Anglers Club, led by President William fewen, also plans to stock 100 000 fingerlings in the lower Big Hole River between Point of Rocks and Glen. The club supports Beaverhead streams and pheasant propagation, with about 100 Chinese pheasants to be released in the Beaverhead valley soon.

Kate M. Holcomb Dies at 90 in Dillon Home
Mrs. Kate M. Holcomb, 90, a pioneer matron of the Dillon area, died at her home after a yearlong illness. A resident for more than 60 years, she arrived with her husband before Dillon was founded in 1880 as the Utah and Northern railroad terminus. Born in Norden, Hanover, Prussia on March 5, 1849, she came to the United States in 1870.

Hereford Bull Sale Set For October Thirtieth
Beaverhead county will hold its annual Hereford bull sale October 30 at the livestock pavilion of the fair grounds. About 60 bulls and 15 females will be offered, with Fred Keppert of Decatur in charge. Montana Idaho and Washington breeders will participate, and officials report Beaverhead is largely free of regional pests.

Beaverhead Shooters Lead West Yellowstone Trap Meet
Beaverhead gunners dominated a West Yellowstone shoot last Sunday. Seventy top shooters from Montana Idaho and Wyoming competed. In singles at 50 16 yard targets Ted Renfro Bill Gleed and Peter Westergard each hit 49 birds to tie for first. Renfro led the 100 third handicap with 98 while Otto Schulz of Sheridan was second with 94. Other Beaverhead shooters also competed.

A large Dillon Elks delegation including the drum and bugle corps that won the state title last year attended the state convention in Livingston. The drum corps finished fourth in the final competition as Butte won, Anaconda second, and Great Falls third. Glendive placed fifth and Billings sixth while the corps entertained thousands during exhibitions. Delegates included William Lloyd and Ed Johnson. Montana Fur Crop Tops $127,600 as Trappers Persist
Montana’s fur industry last season yielded about 127600 dollars to trappers. State game warden James A. Montana Tourism Sees Week Boost At Entrance Stations

Bee sting case treated at hospital here

Drunken Driver Fined in Beaverhead Justice Court
George Proctor, Beaverhead county ranch hand, pleaded guilty in Judge Louis Stahl's court to driving under the influence.
