Funeral for Lima Pioneer W. N. Thompson Held by Masonic Lodge
Beaverhead county resident and Evergreen lodge charter member W N Thompson died at his Lima ranch after a yearlong illness. He was born in Lima Michigan in 1857 and came west to Butte before settling near Lima forty seven years ago. Funeral plans will be in Lima with interment in Lima Cemetery and Evergreen lodge to conduct services.

Ames Pinkerton a longtime Big Hole basin rancher died at Williams Budge Memorial hospital Logan after a lingering illness. Roy Forrester and Louis Schmittroth completed a 137 mile Salmon River journey from Shoupe to Riggin. They portaged twice and lined six times, faced 98 to 102 degree heat with river spray soaking their clothing, and captured dramatic forest fire sights along the 65 mile deep gorge before returning toward home with plans for a Labor Day visit.

Firemen's Picnic Is Big Success
The Dillon volunteer fire department held its first annual picnic at Elkhorn Springs last Sunday. Hundreds from Dillon and nearby areas attended for swimming, dancing, and meals from noon to two. The event ended with an evening dance at the hotel where Faye's Hawaiian Four provided music. Winners included Margaret Kellum and Amy French in children’s races.
