Harvest Fete Promises Huge Western Celebration

Harvest day festivities will unfold in Wisdom and the Big Hole battlefield September 5 6 7 featuring a large outdoor barbecue at the battlefield and a full slate of rodeo events including bucking contests bareback riding and wild steer riding. A featured horse race for a $1000 purse between Earl Ryan and George Roberts of Jackson heightens the lineup.

Dillon to Form Gun Club and Possible Country Club

A gun club is being organized in Dillon with over sixty signers seeking a shooting range and trap facilities. If successful, organizers plan a country club with stock shares, club house, plunge, dance hall, golf links, tennis courts, and athletic grounds near Dillon for summer and winter recreation.

Local man 18 fined $25 for illicit beef sale

Tony Kralyjac, a member of the Austrian colony, was arrested by stock inspector W. A. Lovell last Thursday on a charge of selling beef without exhibiting the hide. He was found guilty in justice court and paid a $25 fine.

Jail Delivery Foiled As Prison Breaks Sought With Saw Smuggling

Undersheriff Gosman uncovered seven hack saws smuggled into the jail by Will Teshian and jailed inmates. Teshian confessed to supplying three saws to prisoners while two were hidden in a broom. Four saws were recovered. three remain missing as officers act on the case.

Mrs Alle Stark died in Dillon Sunday afternoon after a monthlong illness from erysipelas. Funeral held Monday afternoon at the Baptist church with Rev Corll officiating. She was 38, born in Alabama, lived in Idaho and Montana before settling in Dillon four years ago. she worked at Acacia cleaning establishment. Survived by four children Walter Minnie Mattie Lizzie, all of Dillon.

A Dillon Woman's Patriotic Club business session at city hall voted to affiliate with the American fund for the French wounded and send articles made by Dillon women to France. Meetings are Tuesdays and Fridays with two ladies in charge. all local women and girls are urged to attend and aid in supplying hospital equipment.

Roy Murray Climbs Steep Test Hill for Buick

The 1918 Buick six driven by Roy Murray climbed the Wisdom test hill at 25 miles an hour, surpassing earlier feats by Dodge and Studebaker six. The hill near Wisdom is used by car salesmen to demonstrate power. Other items note local draft exemptions, the Open Normal College schedule, and a deputy sheriff’s wedding in Dillon.

Beaverhead County youths answer the call to arms with about 100 men serving in army and navy branches. Sanfor H. Seigrist secured six enlistments from Missoula. Joe Murray and Wm Crompton joined aviation. Walter Ettinger to medical. William Slaughter to field artillery. William Thackery and John Somers joined the 10th engineers. Thirty six in forestry battalion engineers, most from Dillon.
