Beaverhead Chamber of Commerce and the Rodeo association announce a charity evening of games and novelty events on depot lawn Saturday August 30 starting at 1 30 pm The lineup includes bicycle races greased pole greased pig tug of war sack races and a flour dig with buried coins Contestants will also compete in 50 yard dashes and a three legged race Beers and prizes total 100 with winners to receive awards Police will close two highway blocks for the event chaired by Don Wheat with committee members Bob Dodd Fred Bridenstine Bruce Waters Willis Haskell Floyd Miller Charles Burgess and Howard Rundle.

Joseph P Nolan Passes Away in Dillon Beaverdam County
Joseph P Nolan 74 longtime Beaverdam county resident died Monday night at the county farm after years of ill health. Born June 6 1873 in Sandusky Ohio he came to Dillon in 1913 and operated a dryland farm before working as a bartender. He and his wife were previously residents with no known survivors. Funeral services Friday at 10 in Brundage chapel with Rev Fr Timothy Clifford officiating.

Boys State Closes After Ten Busy Days at Montana State Normal
Montana Boys State ended after ten days at Montana State Normal college with 228 boys running a model state government and visiting Bannack, Butte, and Virginia City. They held an open air barbeque with Beaverhead Chamber of Commerce sponsorship and awarded athlete prizes and a governor's key to Jim Reynolds of Billings.

Co. Agt. Henry Mikkelson announced that 70 acres of registered Bridger seed oats raised by Hans C. Hansen of Dillon and Jack Lott of Lima received certification from the Montana Seed Growers Association after an inspection by Don Luebbe, extension agronomist. This is Beaverhead County’s first year with registered grain, and growers must meet association standards, inspections, and land requirements before sale in sealed bags.

Beaverhead 4-H Members to Attend Montana Congress at Bozeman
Beaverhead county 4-H boys girls and leaders will travel to Bozeman for the Montana 4-H club congress September 15 to 18 at Montana State College. About 400 to 500 4-H members and teachers will compete for state honors in agriculture home economics judging and demonstrations. State winners receive trips to the National 4-H club congress in Chicago next December and the state dress revue winner advances to Chicago for national honors. Delegates will stay on campus and tour college departments.

Pheasant Season Opens in Montana on Oct 26
The State Fish and Game commission announced that the pheasant season will open in Montana on October 26 following a Aug 14 decision. A Sept 16-17 meeting will set season length and bag limits. No season will be held for Hungarian partridge sage grouse or upland birds in Beaverhead county. Hunters are asked to return pheasant leg bands to Helena to help count harvested birds.

Hereford Show and Sale Dates Set in Montana
Plans for the tenth Dillon Hereford show and sale and seventh Montana Futurity are announced by secretary-manager Henry Mikkelson. The event runs Sunday and Monday October 12 and 13 at the county fair grounds pavilion with 30 Hereford Futurity bulls and 30 in the open class.
