Dillon Rotarians heard W. M. Murfin illustrate trout fly tying styles focusing on color, line, and motion to attract fish. Plans to raise funds for the Beaverhead Hi Spot center in the high school basement were announced, with Rotary urging attendance at 1:30 or 8 pm Boys' State assemblies and seeking cars for trips to Virginia City and Bannack. Dillon Final Budget Fixes Levy At 27 Mills
Dillon remains among Montana’s lowest taxed municipalities after the city council set the levy at 27 mills in the final budget meeting. The levy rose six mills over last year with increases in three funds while Dillon residents still pay four mills less than similar cities. The meeting approved sprinkling and lighting district resolutions. a July 18 special session will adopt them. An ordinance to license slot machines was directed for draft. land exchange with Luther Smith gives park access. $150 for a volunteer fire department delegate to the Northwest Fire School in Spokane, with two additional delegates attending.

Railroad Tie Fire Near Bridge Extinguished
A small fire in a railroad tie near the town bridge was extinguished by the local volunteer fire department yesterday afternoon. The blaze appears to have been started by a weed burning crew on the railroad with no damage reported.

Beaverhead County runs a five cent sheep levy for predatory animal control totaling 6315.25, the second highest in Montana. Carter County reports 6500 from a similar levy. Across 22 counties with control programs, Beaverhead has the most hunters and funds available for a Montana predatory control plan from July 1, 1947 to June 30, 1948 totaling 215051.95. SE Whitworth of the Montana Woolgrowers Association joins a predatory advisory committee coordinating with the Livestock Commission and Fish and Game to run next year’s program with county and local groups. Four counties offer up to 10 per pelt for coyotes.

Elks to Attend Annual Fish Fry at Virginia City
Dillon Elks Lodge No. 1554 plans to attend the Virginia City Elks annual fish fry on August 17. The Virginia City lodge will supply fish French fries and coffee. Elks wives mothers children and guests may bring pickles jellies or other foods. Music and entertainment start at 2 pm and run all afternoon with guests from many nearby cities.
