The feature attraction at Dillon's three day meet will be the Guideless Wonder a harness horse racing without a driver. Owned by Clyde Allen of Rupert Idaho the popular performer is joined by other Allen entries in the local meet.
Two carloads of race horses arrive from Logan Utah this week ensuring Idaho and Utah entries will compete at the upcoming race meet. Local owners express confidence in their mounts and anticipate close contests against strong regional rivals.
Entrants from Utah Idaho Nevada and across Montana prepare for Dillon three day race meet. Prominent trainers Bert Smith George Smith and A J Bateman send harness and running stock. Managers Harry B Andrus and George Ditty say purses rival top national meets and Idaho spectators will travel to watch their horses compete.
Davis presided as 88 seniors formed Montana State Normal College August class, largest to graduate. Dr. Sheldon B. Davis delivered the address as 48 names topped the class honor roll. Procession and program followed with Invocations and music.
Work on the new state highway north of Dillon extends ten miles from Browne's station south. Engineers report progress favorable as they cut six miles off the distance to Bute. The road between Wise River and Dewey will not be ready before next year as it settles over winter.
Colonel Charles A. Lindbergh will arrive in Butte on Labor Day Monday September 5 accompanied by soldiers. He will land at the Butte airport and be escorted to Clark Park Columbia Gardens and the Temple banquet. Children receive preferred seats with a big reception planned and 1500 may attend the banquet if ready.
The Parent Teachers Association sponsors a booth for children and awards cash prizes for winners. The event aims to be a major attraction with entries growing daily and a fast rise in interest as $1 grows daily.
Senator Hazelbaker, governor of the Sixth Rotary district, reported on last week's Rotary International convention in Chicago. He noted attendees from diverse countries and emphasized global participation by district governors and executives.
Beaverhead county mourns pioneer Martin Barrett who devoted over sixty years to local growth and community life. His lasting legacy includes gifting Barrett Hospital to Dillon and the county, reflecting a life of quiet, generous service.
Frank Landon prominent Beaverhead rancher died Sunday morning at his home after weeks of illness. He had lived in the county fifty years, sold his ranch to the Orr Brothers last spring, and remained active in flock management with the new owners. Born September 6 1850 in Lockport New York he later moved to Montana via California. Local aviators prepare for national air derby with A W Stephenson leading Montana Air Service plans and training more students.
Senator Frank A. Hazelbaker returned from Chicago where he attended a Rotary International convention with district governors and other executives. He described the event as significant and said he planned to discuss outcomes with Coolidge officials.
Lima’s Earl Butner dazzled Beaver head fans by knocking out Leo Wilcox of Idaho in the second round of an eight round bout. The popular young fighter took little time to show his reliable form in his first main event appearance last Saturday night.
E G Leipheimer president of the Montana Press association and editor of the Anaconda Standard told a Butte luncheon the state’s future is bright. He praised Montana as an empire in resources though a pigmy in population and manpower and forecast continued growth in industry and agriculture for future generations.
Beaverhead County mourns as Martin Barrett, longtime local leader and Montana pioneer, dies after years of ill health. City pauses with stores closed from ten to eleven during funeral rites officiated by Rev. Father F. x Lechner. Remains interred at Mountain View cemetery with pallbearers named.
Mr and Mrs Lambert Hiles while on a tour of eastern points attended a Chicago fashion show Friday evening by Allied Dress Industries of America. Eliel calls it splendid and beautiful and a forecast of next year’s styles. An excerpt notes many skirts in a color described as a velvety shade.

A T Peterson Beaverhead county high school principal named director of education duties including school home cooperation and citizenship work. Dr Bonness of Helena named health director overseeing child hygiene and physical education. Superintendent GG Masaing of thewist or will lead mental hygiene efforts.
