Interest runs high as Dillon plans its first flower and vegetable show sponsored by the Dillon Rotary Club. The event is set for September 2 and 3 with cash prizes planned for vegetable displays. An executive meeting discussed district entries and districting for participation.
Ruth and Junior Schuler, children of Mrs. Clayton Schuler, were injured when a car driven by their aunt and a car driven by Undersheriff Carl Hartwig collided on North Montana street. The children suffered cuts from flying brass and were taken to Barrett hospital before returning home the same day. Miss B Moreau was driving the Schuler car at the time.
Dillon will expend 55 000 for the city's operations for the new fiscal year starting July 1. The budget set by the city council allocates 15 000 for general purposes 4 000 for streets and alleys 24 700 for the water fund 1 800 for the city library and 3 500 for a special improvement district.
Exhibitors file entries under Dillon Examiner rules for the 1927 Flower Show. Names of exhibitors and articles entered are to be signed by committee members at the Sheds.
Dillon Montana. Eva Collett formerly held in custody on a murder charge in the death of Harvey Truax. A county attorney said lack of evidence caused dismissal. Truax’s wife and others accompanied him from Dillon to Tahoe Nevada after the case. Collett seeks recovery in Denver after the events on Birch Creek.
Mrs. Mary Martha Patterson wife of G V Patterson a Beaverhead county rancher died after a brief illness at Barrett hospital in Lima. She was 39 born in Sidney Nebraska and lived in Montana since age two. Funeral set for two tomorrow at Lima with Rev Howard B Ricketts officiating. Interment Lima cemetery. Survived by husband seven children three brothers and one sister all of Dell.
Congressman John M. Evans spoke before a large audience at the Methodist church in Dillon on Saturday and Sunday, delivering a peace themed address that held undivided attention. He left Dillon Monday afternoon for Butte.
The Normal college training school's six weeks summer term ends Friday with many instructors planning vacations. Miss Effa M Judd travels to East Lake City and Manzanola Colorado. Miss Clarabelle Severance tours Yellowstone and Kimberly Idaho. Miss Mary Innes visits the east and Canada. Miss Catherine Nutterville plans visits to Butte and Chico springs then teaches in Butte next term. Mrs Alvin Jones spends vacation around Dillon. Miss Mary H Baker completes penmanship and goes to Roanoke Virginia for vacation.
Senator Frank A Hazelbaker governor of the sixth Rotary district travels to Chicago for a world Rotary International convention with Western district governors joining him. En route he will stop at Rapid City South Dakota to pay respects to President Coolidge. He plans a four day Rotary session and tours of eastern cities after the meeting.
E. C. Parker was brought to Dil lon from the Sam Peterson ranch after his team bolted and ran away while he drove a mowing machine. He suffered cuts and bruises and is recovering at Barrett hospital. The accident occurred at the Pe éraon ranch near Jackson. Nh Xaalatle and Floyd Euls rth, two other men injured, are also recovering at Barrett hospital.
The portrait of William Mauldin, early Beaverhead pioneer, hangs in the county courthouse commissioners' room. Enlarged from a photograph, it was secured by the board of commissioners and Frei Eliél after a suggestion by the late Wason B. Oliver, a courthouse founder and Beaverhead pioneer. Mauldin donated the land for the courthouse, accepting no county compensation.
President Coolidge surprised reporters by announcing he will not run in 1928. The typewritten statement was delivered at his executive office at noon with a faint smile, ending months of speculation and prompting quick reactions from associates.
Dillon Driving Club announces August 25 to 27 harness and running races with daily purses of 350 dollars per heat. Entrants from Idaho and across the state, plus hundreds of spectators from Butte and Anaconda, expected. Event management by Harry Andrus and George Ditty with evening entertainments each night and a boxing card at Gregson Springs on August 12 to determine later matchups.

Wardens report high water ruined nests and duckling crops, prompting talks of closing upland bird season at the August meeting in Helena and a disappointing northern flight for hunters.
