Montana sportsmen purchased 24 836 federal duck hunting stamps for the last season, per Helena postmaster J R Wine. The prior year saw 19 978 one dollar stamps sold, with 1936 37 season at 14 903 and the next season at 15 884.

Montana Wool Clip Lower Despite More Sheep Shorn in 1940
The Agricultural Marketing Service reports Montana produced 28,384,000 pounds of wool in 1940 from 3,052,000 sheep shorn with an average fleece of 9.3 pounds. In 1939 the state yielded 26,885,000 pounds from 2,830,000 sheep at 9.5 pounds. The ten year average output ending 1938 was 31,795,000 pounds from 3,352,000 sheep at 9.5 pounds. Although fleece weight fell slightly in 1940, total production rose about six percent due to an eight percent rise in sheep shorn. Fleece weights generally were lighter in the east.

Train strike injures Idaho school principal in Rupert
Miss Elizabeth Shotwell principal of the primary school was injured when the car she drove was hit by a train in Rupert Idaho Friday. She suffered a broken ankle a fractured wrist a gash on the forehead and several lacerations and bruises and is believed to have been returning to Dillon after visiting relatives in Twin Falls Idaho.
