H. G. Johnson Lectures on Astronomy at State Normal College
Astronomer H. G. Johnson, aided by Barry G. Johnson, delivered a three day series at the State Normal College last week. He lectured Tuesday evening, set up a twelve inch telescope for observations until 11 p.m., spoke at 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday, weather prevented telescope use, and concluded Thursday evening with another demonstration.

Outdoor Service At Armstead Draws 125 Baptists
More than 125 members of the Baptist church from Lima Dell Armstead Butte and Dillon gathered at Parke Scott Grove near Armstead for an all day outdoor service. Morning worship was led by Rev Harold Reeves from Clydehurst Bible Conference near Big Timber. Rain forced lunch and Bible study into Armstead schoolhouse and afternoon immersion services were postponed.

Two Arrests At Courthouse This Week
The sheriff’s office reports two notable arrests. Lewis Meyer, 60, received one year for forgery in district court and was sent to the penitentiary. Prohosky Burned In Haying Accident
Jim Prohosky of Armstead ranch er was treated for first degree burns to hands and feet after a haying accident. He was driving a derrick under a live wire when contact occurred, killing two horses pulling the derrick. He was released from the hospital Monday afternoon.

City Police Arrest 32. Firefighters in Trouble
City police reported 32 arrests this week with 26 on Friday through Sunday. Most arrestees were men tied to forest fires, arraigned before Police Magistrate George E. Baker and fined $15. County Board Okays $25 Slot Machine Tax in Dillon
Bea verhead county commissioners in Dillon approve a $25 tax per slot machine to be used in non profit clubs in the county. Former Dillon Resident Dies in California
C. W. Maurer aged 85, longtime Beaverhead county stockman and rancher, died July 25 in Los Angeles after an extended illness. Born November 9, 1861 in Dubuque Iowa, he came to Beaverhead county as a youth and helped run Maurer Swartz Livestock Co. before his family moved to California in 1913. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Morse and several children and in laws, with funeral services held July 28 in Los Angeles.
