Mrs John Conover Dies at 78 After Long Illness
Mrs. John A. Conover a Beaverhead county resident for 50 years died Saturday night at the Cornell Thach at age 78 after a long illness. She and her husband lived on a Sheep canyon ranch for many years. Survived by husband a son John of this city and a daughter in Oregon plus several sisters. Funeral yesterday from Brundage chapel Rev H N Tragitt officiated with interment at Mountain View cemetery.

Resident of Beaverhead Valley Dies After Illness
Frank Mautz aged 67, a well known Beaverhead valley resident, died last Friday at his nephew Joseph Mautz’s ranch home after a long illness. He was born in Austria in 1867 and came to Montana in the 1890s, becoming naturalized in Great Falls in 1900.

Dillon Man to Preside at State Elks Meeting
Earl L. Wheat of Dillon will travel to Miles City to preside over the Montana State Elks Association convention as president of the state body. City and County Plan New Equipment Purchases
Beaverhead County and the City of Dillon will buy new or nearly new equipment. The county will advertise for a crawler tractor for highway use. The city seeks bids for a half-ton pickup for the water department and for wheels and tires on a three and one half ton water truck with dual rear wheels. Bids will be opened after 5 p.m. September 5.

Dillon Young Man Dies After Pneumonia Battle
John Stefanic, 28, a well known Dillon resident, died Saturday in a Butte hospital after a brief pneumonia illness. A Beaverhead Valley native born in 1906, he lived in Dillon his entire life and is survived by three brothers.

Duck Hunters Must Buy $1.00 Revenue Stamp

Floyd Durkee was elected commander of the Ted Harper post of the American Legion at a Jackson meeting held in the I C O F hall. Woodside’s Enjoy Trip Over Scenic Salmon Country
Mr and Mrs Fred Woodside returned Monday morning from a trip to Nampa Idaho flying over Sawtooth mountains and Salmon river country. The trip lasted about an hour and a half from Boise to Salmon with no signs of habitation or emergency landing points observed. The Dilllon couple described the flight as the biggest thrill in the air. In Nampa they were guests of Mr and Mrs Adolph Lauterbach, former Dillon residents. Edla Peterson of Los Angeles, also formerly of Dillon, was a guest at the Lauterbach home.

Beaverhead county's levy for the coming year will be fixed at next Monday's board of commissioners meeting.
